For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. – 1 Corinthians 3:9-10. I have considered this Chapter in 1 Corinthians and considered the following verses as well.
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” 1 Corinthians 3:11-15. Let us consider the following video…
Even after Jesus’s death, there were descensions within the body of Christ. Consider Paul having to rebuke Peter for fearing those of the circumcision while teaching the Gentiles (Galatians 2). And, this was many years after Paul began his ministry. Peter walked for years with the LORD, and wasn’t without fault. Let is now consider Apollos. “And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” – Acts 18:24-26.
As followers together of Jesus Christ, we all have a part to contribute. We all have our own work to do. “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” – Ephesians 4:13-16. If we aren’t contributing our portion, even the greater portion of ourselves, we will inevitably fall short at the last day.
““Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.” Consider… your eternal lives my friends. “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
